Family Coaching
Support for parents and families when things feel difficult, stuck or simply need a new perspective.
Family life can bring us to our limits. Sometimes the same conflicts keep coming back. Communication becomes difficult, emotions run high, or you feel like you no longer know how to reach your child.
And sometimes there isn't one big problem – just the feeling that something within the family needs more attention.
Family Coaching offers a space to slow things down, understand what is really happening and find new ways forward together.
What we can do together
Every family is different, and so is every situation.
We can look at recurring conflicts, communication, boundaries, anger and other strong emotions, feeling overwhelmed as a parent, challenging behaviour, withdrawal or the feeling that you and your child have lost connection.
Rather than focusing only on the behaviour we can see, I am interested in what might be behind it.
What is happening underneath the conflict? What does your child need? What do you need? Are there patterns that keep repeating? And what could help you understand each other better?
Anger has a place
Anger is not something I believe we should simply suppress or try to get rid of.
It can tell us that something matters, that a boundary has been crossed or that something underneath needs our attention.
Especially for young people, anger needs a place where it is allowed to exist. At the same time, we can learn to express it without hurting ourselves or others.
Together, we can explore what is behind the anger and find ways to give it space in a safe and constructive way.
It's not about who is right
When things become difficult within a family, it can quickly become about who is causing the problem.
That's not how I work.
I don't see the parent as the problem, and I don't see the child as the problem. Instead, we look at the relationships, individual needs and dynamics within the family.
My role is not to tell you how to raise your child or how your family should function. I want to help you see more clearly what is happening and create space for different perspectives.
From there, new ways of communicating and relating to each other can become possible.
14 years of working with teenagers and parents
Before focusing on Family Constellations and coaching, I spent 14 years working as a social worker with teenagers and their parents facing complex emotional, behavioural and family challenges.
Those years taught me things no training alone could teach: how to stay calm when situations become difficult, how to listen beyond what is being said, and how much can lie underneath anger, withdrawal or challenging behaviour.
Most importantly, I learned how important it is for both young people and parents to feel seen and heard – especially when they are struggling to understand each other.
This experience continues to shape the way I work today: grounded, open and without judgement.
Who can come?
You can come on your own as a parent, as parents together, or together with your child or teenager.
Sometimes working together as a family makes sense. At other times, starting with one person can already change something within the wider family system.
You don't need to know beforehand what would be best. We can look at that together.
How does a session work?
We start with what is happening right now.
What feels difficult? What would you like to understand or change? And what is important to you or your family?
From there, we explore the situation together through conversation and a systemic perspective. Elements of Family Constellations can also be included when they are helpful.
There is no fixed process. I work with the person or family in front of me and with what is needed in that moment.
You don't have to figure it out alone
Maybe you already know exactly what you would like support with. Or maybe you simply feel that something in your family isn't working and you're not sure where to start.
Both are enough.
Get in touch and tell me a little about your situation. We can then see together whether Family Coaching feels right for you.
