Family Constellations in a Group
Sometimes, seeing our situation from a different perspective can change something we couldn't change through thinking alone.
In a group constellation, we bring an issue from your life into the room and make the relationships and dynamics around it visible.
You don't need to know exactly where your difficulty comes from or what needs to change. You can simply come with something you would like to understand better.
What can you bring to a constellation?
A constellation can be about many different areas of life.
You might want to look at a relationship or family situation, a recurring pattern, a difficult decision, a conflict, a feeling of not belonging, something that keeps holding you back or an emotion that you don't fully understand.
Sometimes the issue is very clear. Sometimes it is simply a feeling that something in your life isn't quite right.
Both are enough.
What happens in a group constellation?
We begin with a short conversation about what you would like to look at.
You then choose people from the group to represent relevant people or elements of your situation and place them in the room according to what feels right to you.
From there, we observe what begins to show itself.
The representatives may notice emotions, physical sensations, impulses or changes in how they relate to one another. Step by step, this can make dynamics visible that were difficult to recognise before.
As a facilitator, I guide the process gently and only intervene where it supports what is unfolding.
There is no fixed outcome we need to reach. We work with what becomes visible.
Seeing and acknowledging what is there
For me, Family Constellations are not about making difficult feelings or experiences disappear.
What we reject or push away often gains more power over us.
A constellation gives us the opportunity to look at what is there and to acknowledge what belongs to our story and our family system.
Sometimes this brings a new understanding. Sometimes something finds its place. And sometimes we simply leave with a different perspective on something we have carried for a long time.
Your own constellation
If you bring your own issue, the constellation is centred around your personal question or situation.
You don't have to prepare a detailed family history or know exactly what the underlying issue is. We start with what is important to you right now and take it from there.
You also decide how much you want to share with the group. It is not necessary to tell your whole story for a constellation to take place.
Joining as a representative
You can also join the group without bringing your own constellation.
As a representative, you may be chosen to take a place in someone else's constellation. You don't need to act, perform or know anything about the person you are representing. You simply notice what you experience in that position.
Being a representative can be a meaningful experience in itself. Often, themes in other people's constellations touch something in our own lives as well.
And if you don't want to represent in a particular constellation, you can always say no.
A safe and respectful space
Family Constellations can touch deeply personal themes, so creating a respectful and confidential space is very important to me.
There is no judgement about what comes up, no pressure to reach a certain result and no need to force anything.
My role is to hold and guide the process while respecting your boundaries and your own pace.
Do I need any experience?
No.
You don't need any previous experience with Family Constellations to join – either with your own issue or as a representative.
Curiosity and a willingness to look at what is there are enough.
Family Constellations in Aljezur
Group constellations take place in Aljezur, Algarve, in a small and personal setting.
You can join with your own constellation or participate as a representative.
Sessions are held in English.
